To the Fashion Designers and Manufacturers.....

Why is it that women's jeans come in lengths petite and regular? Where are the talls I have heard so much about?? And although I'm not short, I have only rarely seen petite offered. Why is it despite having three lengths to choose from, every women's department in Alaska only ever has regular with a petite seen maybe once a year?

I have now banned shopping for woman's pants (jeans or otherwise). Its just the biggest waist of time.

What did us girls do to deserve only three non-existent length selections? What did the guys do to be favored so well as to have a double selection of waist and length sizes from 26-42's in every store? I have heard legends that women's pants come tall, I have searched high and low, from Alaska to the east coast and have yet to find a pair.

My choices are to go to the ladies department and see selections like 8, 10, 12, & 14's for waist that will no doubt be high waters on me (which means I really can't be seen sitting down) OR go to the men's department and pick whatever waist size I'm sporting at the moment with either of my favorite lengths of 34 or 36 inch.

I'll be sticking with men's pants but I'm sad I won't ever get to find a great looking pair of embroidered, studded, or otherwise girly and cute looking pants with a long length. Why won't you fix this?????

What a tame rant. My guess is that you haven't been shopping for maternity clothes yet.

So true! Finding pants that actually hit my shoe tops is always an elusive goal. Internet shopping is the only way to go!

I am the same way, its always levi's ...but at the change of seasons I can find talls at Old Navy and the GAP. Go to Old Navy for an ego boost... you will be a size or two smaller.

PS... i am a little peeved that you got to this topic befor me.

I had asked a salesperson this same question when I was in Anchorage at the beginning of September. She said that they don't carry the 'long' or 'ankle' (some stores stopped calling it 'petite') lengths in the stores because they sell so few of them. But I could order the 'long' ones from their website.

Coldfoot, thanks for stopping by. haha I haven't been shopping for maternity clothes, yet. Thanks for giving me something to look forward too!

Valette & Kate - As for shopping online, I just can't dig. Every brand fits a bit differently, looks a bit different, and maybe sized a bit different. By ordering online I would have to chance sending half of them back - to lazy to do that. I don't mind shopping for other stuff online but jeans and shoes aren't on the list.

Heidi - It would be awesome if you did your own post on this sometime. I would LOVE to see your take on it. Not that any manufacturers or designers or anyone who could make a difference is reading this but maybe, just maybe someone will read this post or someone elses post and decide to stock their department with talls or even better give us gals all the choices the guys have. When I was writing this post I thought back to you and I grumbling about this same thing. All these years later and nothing has changed!

I lucked out. Before we left camping I found 4 pairs of Levi 501 button-ups, in my size in like-new condition, at the local second hand store for $5 each. I'd cut my 2 fave jeans off for shorts this summer and was dreading jean shopping.

Even when I go to Anch I check out both Value Villages before having to go mall shopping. I can get 4 bags of cloths for the cost one from any store across the street in Diamond Center.

I like the way button-ups fit and if I eat too much I can always pop the top button. (burp)

I am all about Value Village. Marty and I went in just before he flew back to work. He got a brand-new pair of levi's with the original tags still on them and I got some Tommy's that looked new, among other things.

Old Navy and Gap were among the stores that told me they only carry 'long' and 'ankle' length pants online. I will generally find a pair that fits great in the store, then order the same size in 'long' from the store's website.
